Flood Advisory For Fairfield County As Storms Sweep Through Area

Showers and thunderstorms moving across the area have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Advisory for Fairfield County on Thursday morning.

Dangerous lightning, thunder and heavy rainfall have accompanied the round of storms.

The Flash Flood Advisory is in effect until 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

There have been gauge reports of up to 1 inch of rainfall occurring within an hour. Minor flooding of poor drainage areas is expected across the advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Stamford, Norwalk, Danbury, New Canaan, Greenwich, Ridgefield, Bethel, Wilton and Sherman, the National Weather Service said.

Showers are expected to continue until around 3 p.m. Thursday, with more storms possible. There will still be a chance for more showers through the evening. Thursday's high temperature will be in the mid-70s.
